Sourcing in Chaozhou — Ceramics, Sanitary Ware & Stainless
Fengxi · Chao'an · Raoping · Guangdong, China
Chaozhou is China's porcelain city, and the belt works in two directions at once: decorative and daily-use ceramics from the historic kilns, and the sanitary ware that made the city a national production base for toilets and basins. Chao'an adds stainless steel and food-grade metalware, and the wider Chaoshan region supplies the packaging that goes around it.
What the Chaozhou belt makes
- Ceramics — Dinnerware, tabletop, decorative porcelain, vases and planters — with the glaze finishing and hand-painting skills that make the belt distinctive.
- Sanitary ware — Toilets, basins and ceramic bathroom products, priced aggressively against the Foshan and Jiangmen belts.
- Stainless steel & kitchenware — Kettles, pots, trays, cutlery and hotel/kitchen supplies from Chao'an.
- Food contact & packaging — Food-grade ceramics and tableware programmes, including retail gift packing and private-label cartons.
How we work this belt
- Daily-use ceramics are sold by set and by carton, and the glaze determines both price and breakage risk — ask for the firing method and the packing spec together.
- Sanitary ware from Chaozhou is often the value option against Foshan; the same product family can differ by 20–30% on internal parts, so decide which parts may not be cheapened.
- Hand-painted and reactive-glaze finishes have natural batch variation. If your channel needs identical units, choose a controlled glaze instead.
- Food-contact items need migration or food-safety documentation for most markets. Ask before production, not at the port.
What we check before it ships
- Breakage test with the actual carton and cushioning, not a theoretical spec.
- Glaze and shade consistency across the production batch under the same light source.
- Food-contact documentation and any certification the destination market requires.
- Sanitary ware: flush function, water consumption and fitting compatibility per unit.
Getting it out
Cargo loads through Shantou and Chaozhou feeder services to Yantian or Nansha, adding a few days to the schedule. Ceramics ship heavy and fragile: palletising and full-container loading are usually worth the extra cost.
