Sourcing in Jieyang — Hardware, Stainless & Plastics
Jiedong · Puning · Rongcheng · Guangdong, China
Jieyang is one of the province's oldest metalworking towns and still one of its busiest: stainless steel kitchenware and cutlery, metal hardware, plastic housewares and, unusually for a hardware city, a textile belt next door in Puning that produces underwear and knitwear at national scale. Prices here are among the most competitive in Guangdong, and the factories are used to working to a target cost.
What the Jieyang belt makes
- Hardware & metal products — Stainless and carbon steel components, hinges, brackets, fittings, tooling and general metal fabrication.
- Stainless kitchenware — Pots, pans, kettles, cutlery, kitchen tools and hotel/restaurant supplies.
- Plastics & housewares — Injection and blow-moulded products, storage, cleaning tools and household plastics.
- Underwear & knitwear — Seamless and cut-and-sew underwear, loungewear and knit basics from the Puning cluster.
How we work this belt
- Grade substitution is the classic risk here: 304 can quietly become 201 stainless in a competitive quote. We specify the grade in writing and verify it, which is the whole point of using a sourcing agent in this belt.
- Tooling is cheap and fast by regional standards, which makes this belt good for new hardware products — but budget for a second sample round if tolerances matter.
- Thin walls and sharp edges are the recurring defect in low-cost metalware; the inspection spec has to name them explicitly.
- For textiles, colour consistency between lots is the main commercial risk — approve the lab dip, not just the sample garment.
What we check before it ships
- Material grade verification (XRF or mill certificate) on stainless and metal parts.
- Thickness, weight and dimension checks per unit against the approved specification.
- Weld and joint integrity, plus edge and burr inspection on handles and openings.
- For knitwear: shrinkage, colour fastness and size grading against the approved sample.
Getting it out
Shipments load through Shantou or move overland to Shenzhen and Nansha for direct sailings. Metal goods are heavy, so freight quotes need weight and volume together — a cheap-looking product can be expensive to move.
What to send us
A photo, a drawing, a competitor link or an item list — with quantities, target price, destination market and any deadline. If you have a specification or a sample already, send that instead; it cuts a round of questions. We reply with a supplier shortlist, indicative pricing and a realistic schedule within 48 hours.
