Sourcing in Foshan — Furniture, Ceramics & Building Materials

Shunde · Lecong · Longjiang · Chancheng · Dali · Guangdong, China

Foshan is the furniture capital of China and the centre of the country's ceramic tile industry. Shunde district holds the manufacturing — Longjiang for upholstery, sofas and beds, Lecong next door for the trade — while Chancheng and Nanzhuang run the kilns that fire a large share of the world's tiles and sanitary ware. Dali supplies the aluminum profiles behind doors, windows and furniture frames.

What the Foshan belt makes

  • Furniture — Sofas and upholstery, beds, dining and living room sets, hotel and office case goods, outdoor furniture, and the flat-pack volume lines that fill retail programmes.
  • Ceramics & tiles — Floor and wall tiles, porcelain slabs, mosaics and decorative ceramics, with the glaze and firing capacity that keeps large formats consistent.
  • Sanitary ware — Toilets, basins, bathtubs and vanities from the Foshan kilns — often priced against the Jiangmen faucet belt next door.
  • Aluminum & metal — Aluminum extrusions, doors and windows, furniture frames and metal components from Dali and the surrounding hardware towns.

How we work this belt

  • Furniture is sold through showrooms as much as factories — Lecong alone hosts showroom space measured in millions of square metres. We buy from the production line, not the showroom floor.
  • Sample reality: most furniture factories build one unit to spec as a paid sample, then credit it against the bulk order. Lead time on that sample is usually 10–20 days.
  • Container math decides the design. A 40HQ holds roughly 60–70 m³; a bulky sofa can be 1.5 m³ per unit, so a 100-piece program can be a container by itself.
  • Ceramics are quoted per square metre with packing and breakage terms, not per piece — get the packing method in writing, because loose tiles in a shared container arrive broken.

What we check before it ships

  • Furniture: frame joinery, hardware feel, foam density and upholstery tension checked against the approved sample.
  • Weight and dimension verification per unit — freight is bought by volume, and an undersized unit is a specification failure.
  • Materials verification for claims that matter (solid wood versus veneer, foam grade, fabric composition) before production starts.
  • Ceramics: flatness, shade consistency between batches, edge chipping and carton cushioning tested with a drop test.

Getting it out

Goods move out through Nansha, Shunde and Shenzhen ports, or by rail to inland China for cross-border trucking to Southeast Asia. Furniture is volumetric freight: capacity planning matters more than rate negotiation, and consolidation with our Foshan lighting orders is normal.

What to send us

A photo, a drawing, a competitor link or an item list — with quantities, target price, destination market and any deadline. If you have a specification or a sample already, send that instead; it cuts a round of questions. We reply with a supplier shortlist, indicative pricing and a realistic schedule within 48 hours.
