Sourcing in Shenzhen — Electronics & Smart Devices

Huaqiangbei · Bao'an · Longgang · Guangdong, China

Shenzhen is the design and trading head of the electronics supply chain, with production capacity spilling into Dongguan and Huizhou within an hour's drive. Huaqiangbei is the component market that can arm a new product from prototype to pilot run in a week, and the city's engineering talent is why so many smart devices and LED products are specified here and built next door.

What the Shenzhen belt makes

  • Consumer electronics — Audio, wearables, phone and tablet accessories, computer peripherals, power banks and charging technology.
  • Smart home & IoT — Smart lighting, sensors, cameras, hubs and connected devices, including app and cloud integration through partner developers.
  • LED & display — LED modules, strips, display panels and signage, with the driver and control electronics alongside.
  • Components & PCBA — Sourcing of specific chips, sensors and connectors from the market cluster, plus board assembly and programming.

How we work this belt

  • Prototyping is the local specialty: small pilot runs from a few hundred units are realistic here, which is unusual for most Chinese manufacturing.
  • Component prices are volatile and quoted short. Expect 7–14 day validity on electronics quotations and plan purchasing accordingly.
  • For products with firmware or apps, agree who maintains the software after delivery — it is the most common long-term gap in hardware projects.
  • Certification for electronics is a design input, not an afterthought: EMC, safety and radio approvals change the board, not just the label.

What we check before it ships

  • Function and firmware testing across the production batch, not only the first article.
  • Battery safety and transport documentation (UN38.3, MSDS) checked for every shipment containing cells.
  • EMC/pre-compliance spot checks for markets where a failed test at destination means a rejected container.
  • Packaging and accessory completeness verified against the packing list, item by item.

Getting it out

Shenzhen's own port handles the export declaration; Yantian and Shekou sail worldwide. For urgent electronics, Hong Kong and Shenzhen airports give next-day uplift on most routes.

What to send us

A photo, a drawing, a competitor link or an item list — with quantities, target price, destination market and any deadline. If you have a specification or a sample already, send that instead; it cuts a round of questions. We reply with a supplier shortlist, indicative pricing and a realistic schedule within 48 hours.
