Sourcing in Dongguan — Electronics, Molds & Furniture

Chang'an · Houjie · Humen · Songshan Lake · Guangdong, China

Dongguan is the factory floor of the Pearl River Delta. Chang'an and the surrounding towns hold one of the world's densest electronics and precision hardware clusters — molds, injection molding, connectors, PCB assembly — while Houjie hosts the furniture industry it has built around its own exhibition, and Humen runs a garment belt that dresses a large part of the domestic market.

What the Dongguan belt makes

  • Electronics & hardware — Consumer electronics, 3C accessories, PCBA, connectors, cables, power banks, chargers and smart-home devices, with component sourcing from Shenzhen's markets next door.
  • Molds & tooling — Tooling design, injection molding and die-casting. This is where an original product idea becomes a repeatable part with a fixed cost per unit.
  • Furniture — Hotel and residential case goods, upholstered furniture and solid-wood lines from Houjie and Dalingshan, with export experience going back to the original OEM wave.
  • Apparel & textiles — Knitwear, casualwear and denim from Humen, plus the cut-and-sew capacity for bags, hats and accessories.
  • Printing & packaging — Colour boxes, gift packaging, labels and printed promotional goods.

How we work this belt

  • Molds are usually quoted separately and stay with the factory, which is standard practice — but who owns the tool matters if you change supplier. We have it written into the order.
  • Electronics pricing moves with components, not with the factory's mood. When a chip shortage appears, quotes are held for days, not weeks.
  • For e-commerce sellers, this belt is the source of the accessories and smart devices that ship cheaply by air — good for testing a product before committing to a container.
  • Tooling plus first production is normally 35–60 days. Plan new-product launches around that, not around a shipped sample.

What we check before it ships

  • First-article inspection against the drawing before the molding run continues — the single check that prevents thousands of out-of-tolerance parts.
  • Functional testing of every sampled electronic unit, plus an aging/burn-in run where the product calls for it.
  • Battery and charger units checked against the destination market's requirements, including UN38.3 for lithium transport.
  • AQL-based sampling for cosmetics, assembly fit and packaging, with photo and video evidence before sealing.

Getting it out

Containers load through Yantian and Shekou with direct sailings, and Dongguan's own port handles feeder services. Electronics moving by air leave through Shenzhen and Hong Kong, and road transport to Hong Kong airport is a same-day operation.

What to send us

A photo, a drawing, a competitor link or an item list — with quantities, target price, destination market and any deadline. If you have a specification or a sample already, send that instead; it cuts a round of questions. We reply with a supplier shortlist, indicative pricing and a realistic schedule within 48 hours.
