Sourcing in Zhaoqing — Building Materials, Aluminum & Metal
Gaoyao · Sihui · Dawang · Guangdong, China
Zhaoqing sits on the western edge of the Pearl River Delta and supplies the materials that go into buildings: tiles and ceramics from Gaoyao, aluminum profiles and industrial extrusions, metal and hardware work from Sihui, and a growing furniture and building-products park around Dawang. It is the belt we use when a project needs materials and fabricated metal rather than consumer goods.
What the Zhaoqing belt makes
- Building materials — Tiles, paving, decorative stone-look ceramics, cement products and construction fittings.
- Aluminum profiles — Extrusions for windows, doors, curtain walls, furniture frames and industrial applications, with anodising and powder coating in-house.
- Hardware & castings — Metal castings, machined parts, hardware and fabricated steel from the Sihui cluster.
- Furniture & joinery — Contract furniture, panel and joinery products for hospitality and commercial fit-outs.
How we work this belt
- For project work, coating thickness and alloy grade are the two specifications to verify — visual inspection alone will not catch a downgraded profile.
- Long profiles are awkward freight: lengths and bundling decide the container loading plan, and some lengths cannot ship in a standard container at all.
- Building materials are usually quoted with packing and breakage allowance. Get the breakage rate in writing and inspect the loading, not just the product.
- Lead times here are longer than in the consumer belts, because many products are made to order. Plan around the schedule rather than pushing it.
What we check before it ships
- Alloy grade and temper verification against the mill certificate.
- Coating thickness and adhesion tests (anodising, powder coat) on sampled units.
- Dimensional and straightness checks on profiles and long products.
- Loading supervision with photos — long goods damage during loading more often than in transit.
Getting it out
Cargo moves via Nansha and Shenzhen, or by barge where volumes justify it. Heavy materials are quoted on weight, so freight planning belongs at quotation stage rather than after production.
What to send us
A photo, a drawing, a competitor link or an item list — with quantities, target price, destination market and any deadline. If you have a specification or a sample already, send that instead; it cuts a round of questions. We reply with a supplier shortlist, indicative pricing and a realistic schedule within 48 hours.
